There’s been some activity today (Monday 1 Oct) on various trees at the pond. After the recent failure of a mature Willow in the south part of the Pond area, a site visit was carried out to undertake a visual tree assessment of the gardens. On completion of this inspection a number of health and safety based tree works have been identified.
Lady Antonia Fraser Pinter unveiled a plaque, sponsored by Clapton Pond Neighbourhood Action Group (CPNAG), on Saturday September 22, marking the house in Thistlewaite Road, Clapton, where Harold Pinter, her husband, was born and grew up. He died in 2008.

The Pond fountain is now back up to full strength again and the pond has been cleared of blanket weed and pond debris, after pressure from CPNAG on the Council. We have been in discussion with the Trust of Bishop Wood Almshouse concerning its future. They told us informally a short while ago:
Please rest assured that we have no plans to demolish Bishop Wood! They are listed buildings, and so no one can just demolish them. The Trustees are ascertaining the right way forward for the best use of Bishop Wood. Before we can do this, we are getting the residents settled into the new Almshouses that we have just completed, and then seeing what the needs and funding opportunities might be. This process will take some time, as it needs to be right, so there is likely to be no action at Bishop Wood for the immediate future.
Clapton Pond has once again secured the Green Flag award (the flag flies on the mast at the northern end of the Pond area), which means it meets high standards of maintenance and care, judged by independent experts.
