A place of serenity, beauty and quiet contemplation??
Early September continued….. as we said: Ahhhh, Clapton Pond! A place of serenity and beauty, and even for quiet contemplation (when there’s no traffic coming past), except……
…. just occasionally we have our little periodic dramas! In March 2025, a car went for a swim and took out part of the railings on the West side of the Pond. On 4th September, for symmetry’s sake, a tree decided to take out a similar sized piece on the East side. As one of our neighbours, Oliver (some of the pics are courtesy of him), said “..bit of action at the pond today”
The lovely willow has clearly been rotting from the inside and the heavy rain that morning was a step too far.
The Council swung into action and within 10 days the chunk of tree branch has been freed from its railing trap and a new set of railings installed, as pictured!!!
